Are you looking for a new digital camera to replace the old point-and-shoot you're struggling with now? Are you a photography enthusiast looking to purchase an inexpensive yet high quality digital SLR camera? Then you should definitely be interested in looking at the brand new Nikon D3000 Digital SLR camera.

While the Nikon D3000 Digital SLR camera is not a point-and-shoot camera, it's the next best thing. Equipped with a high quality 3x 18-55mm Zoom-Nikkor VR Image Stabilization lens, a 3-inch LCD preview screen, and a slight 5x3-inch frame, this Nikon camera is a great choice if you're looking for fast shots, razor-sharp prints, and user-friendly controls.

The only thing I don't like about the Nikon D3000 digital camera is that, while it boasts a great 3-inch preview screen, you cannot take pictures through this screen; you take pictures through the lens viewer like a regular camera.

The Nikon D3000 digital camera also works like s built-in Photoshop; instead of waiting until you get home after a photo shoot to take care of small photo flaws, you can crop, adjust filters, and even remove red eye right on the LCD screen.

You'll also fall in love with this camera if you're sick and tired of your models and photo subjects blinking, getting bored, looking away at just the wrong time, and, well, moving in general. Why? Because with its split second shutter response time, you're guaranteed to get super-fast shots before you can blink, and never miss a shot again.

How to Take Perfect People Pictures in Digital Photography

Most often people that enjoy taking pictures love to take them of other people. These are the ones you see running around at the parties snapping pictures of every guest there and every funny event that is happening. Then quite often, when they get them downloaded they are disappointed with the quality of them.

There are techniques that can be utilized to create a far better quality photo when the subjects are human.

All too often, the amateur photographer works very hard at centering the person exactly in the middle of the frame. Probably the reason for this is simply that it has always been the norm to do this. It does not have to be this way and in fact, the pictures become far more interesting when they are off center. Before you take your picture, take a few minutes to think about what would make a more interesting composition. For example, a profile of a person picking a leaf off a tree would be far more interesting then the person standing their posed for the shot.

A photograph taken naturally is much more effective than one that is staged. You can tell a staged picture quite often just by the smile on the subjects face. Prove this to yourself. Take a staged picture of an individual then later catch them off guard and take another one. You will see the difference just in the facial expressions and tones as well. Look for opportunities to take pictures when people are in their natural element. At the same time, though do not become invasive where they are dubious every time you are around that you are going to be snapping pictures of them. This can get annoying.

Most often, when you see amateur photographers holding their cameras to take the picture it is always in the conventional manner, which is horizontal. It is probably because once again it is a normal habit. Try taking some pictures on the vertical you will get some interesting shots and it will not take long before you become comfortable with this.

An important aspect of taking pictures is that you enjoy it and your subjects do as well. It is a hobby that you can get many hours of enjoyment from. If you put some time into your photography work, you will soon find friends asking you to take pictures of their special occasions. This in itself is quite a compliment to your photography endeavors. Aside from this, you will find that there is a never-ending challenge to photographing people.

For the most part people enjoy having their picture taken and will often get caught up in the moment if you allow them to be natural. All of a sudden they seem to start naturally posing but in a relaxed way. They almost become amateur models in a fun way. The important thing to remember is photography is meant to be fun, and to capture some memories of a lifetime.

The Rebel T1i DSLR is Almost Perfect

If capturing high def video, is essential in your newest digital camera acquisition, than the Rebel T1i DSLR, is obviously a digital SLR you should consider. If your into capturing high def films, the T1i Rebel should thrill you, with it's thirty frames per second at a recording resolution of 720p, for a whopping maximum recording time of 18 minutes. The D90 SLR does pretty good, but with just five minutes maximum video length, at twenty four FPS.

While the tech specs seem pretty good, real world tests of high def films from the T1i Rebel, lag a bit too much. If you prefer smoother high definition videos, you can swap the Canon SLR Rebel T1i movie setting from 1080p twenty FPS to 720p 30 FPS. It's a good plan to switch to the lower resolution if your running out of room on your storage card, or you plan to create long videos.

The Nikon D90 12.3MP offers a top level ISO setting of 6,400, whereas the Rebel T1i, has managed to double that figure to 12,800. Photographs taken on the Canon T1i SLR, using the maximum ISO of 12,800 will likely be disappointing. It seems that Nikon understands the limits of the D90 SLR, and preferred not to push a ridiculously high ISO of 12,800 on the D90.

Don't rely however on what any one can see on their own. A measured examination of images from a Nikon D90 and a Rebel T1i will tell the tale. Canon does their best to reduce image noise at higher ISO settings that are moderately helpful some of the time.

While developing a high ISO is nice, it's the signal to noise ratio that tells the tale. In this respect, the Nikon D90 wins.

If insist, that the concealed ( swift / silent ) photographer gets the better picture than the Nikon D90 DX is the tool for you. If you must capture photos in a hurry, without missing your chance, then the Nikon D90 outdoes the Rebel T1i DSLR. To be specific, DSLR camera speed is not just a metric of shutter swiftness. For the Nikon to reach a shoot rate of 4 1/2 frames per second vs the Canon SLR Rebel T1i 3.4, it was also zippier when focusing, zippier when in mirror blackout, and faster with shutter lag.

If being unobtrusive is as crucial to you as it is to me when taking photos, then pay a little more attention to the Nikon D90 12.3MP. It's shutter mechanism is pretty quiet. While a quiet DSLR may not be a big deal for a Nascar race, it certainly could be for pro golf tournaments if your in the gallery.
