Free Traffic to My Site Or I'm Going Home

Guess what? I'd like free traffic to my site too. That's what we all want, but 'free' is one of those ambiguous words, isn't it? Some of what looks like the 'free-est' of all traffic sources might just end up being the most expensive.

What I'm talking about is the CDs you can buy for a few dollars with hundreds of thousands of e-mails on them. They might be presented as a huge value deal - 'hundreds of thousands worth of free traffic to my site - for peanuts'. But it will make a monkey out of you. Leave well alone. This deal, however attractive is pure spam.

The 'expensive' bit is when your ISP provider shuts you down. But let's move away from the 'dark side'. Your site is going to get a steady and growing flow of free, super-targeted visitors. Right?

Free Traffic to My Site Or I'm Going Home

Quality free traffic is one of the joys of online marketing. Rather than zillions of spammy e-mails going out to people who don't know you or want your offering, you can create a flow of targeted visitors by getting content listed in the 'organic' (left hand side) part of the Search results page.

So we have a website or blog. How do we get this free traffic? Let's compile a list of 10 tips to be going on with:-

1. Consistently write good quality content for your site or blog, with each page or post keyword-optimised around sought-after keywords with high demand, low supply that buyers would type in. eg a page called 'buying a Nikon d3000' is a better targeted keyword than 'cameras'.

2. Submit keyword-optimised articles to EzineArticles.com, goarticles.com and articles base.com with 400-600 words quality articles. Outsource this when you can afford it and always link back to your site in the bio box, using your keyword as the anchor text.

3. Submit press releases to sites such as PRWeb.com, as long as the item is newsworthy.

4. Post insightful comments regularly to forums and relevant blogs with links back to your site.

5. Create a Twitter account around your niche and tweet every day, with content about your niche, or just pithy, humorous observations.

6. Create a Facebook account, also around your niche. Include Facebook and Twitter buttons on your site or blog for people to add or follow you easily.

7. Submit your sites to social bookmarking sites such as Stumbleupon, Digg and Reddit.

8. Create a 'lens' on Squidoo and a 'hub' on Hubpages.

9. If you're in the online marketing field at all, submit gifts to Giveaway events, though you'll need to set up squeeze pages first.

10. Once your list is over 500 strong, approach other marketers in your niche at sites like JYnotifypro.com to see if someone will agree to do an adswap with you.

'Will this guarantee free traffic to my site?'
